The Medieval and Renaissance World (1000–1600 CE)
By 1000 CE, supernatural beings had fully retreated into secrecy as Christianity and Islam eradicated pagan practices and myths. The Crusades (1096–1291) and the Inquisition intensified this suppression, turning witches, vampyres, and daemons into symbols of fear in folklore. The Renaissance (14th–16th century) brought a renewed interest in ancient texts and occult practices, but this curiosity often led to persecution. The invention of the printing press in the mid-1400s spread works like Malleus Maleficarum (1487), fueling witch trials and widespread fear of the supernatural. Facing increasing hostility and danger, witches, vampyres, and daemons began organizing for survival. By the late 1500s, the foundation of the council was established, uniting supernatural factions to enforce secrecy and protect their existence in an ever-hostile world.
