The Era of Faith and Empire (0 - 1000 BCE)
This millennium witnesses the rise and fall of great empires and the establishment of major world religions. The Roman Empire dominates the Mediterranean before transitioning into Byzantium, while Christianity becomes its state religion. Islam emerges in the 7th century, expanding rapidly across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. Hinduism and Buddhism spread across Asia, and the foundations of modern China are laid under the Qin and Han Dynasties. Meanwhile, supernatural beings face increasing persecution, the beginnings of being driven underground by the growing power of organized religion and empires of humanity. Their presence survives in myths, legends, and secret traditions, passed down through generations.

By the early medieval period, supernatural beings had vanished entirely from human sight, forced into hiding to avoid extinction as the dominance of Christianity and Islam spread. Tales of witches, vampyres, and daemons lingered in folklore but were treated as cautionary stories rather than real threats. The supernatural, now fully veiled, influenced human societies only through whispers and rare encounters, keeping their existence alive in myths while avoiding direct interaction with humanity.
As the Roman Empire expanded and Christianity became a dominant force, structured religions grew increasingly intolerant of supernatural beliefs. Folklore about witches, daemons, and spirits persisted among the lower classes but was dismissed or demonized by ruling powers. Supernatural beings, hunted and vilified, retreated fully into secrecy by this time, influencing human events only from the shadows. Myths were increasingly viewed as allegories rather than literal truths, marking the beginning of a long-hidden existence for the supernatural.
