Mythical Foundations (pre 4000 BCE – 2000 BCE)
In the earliest days of human civilization, the supernatural and mortal worlds were deeply intertwined. Supernatural beings ruled openly as gods, heroes, and creators, shaping the natural and spiritual landscapes of early societies. The first cities, such as those in Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley, rose under the influence of divine favor, and rituals ensured the balance between humans and the unseen. Myths and legends were born in this time, reflecting humanity’s attempts to understand their place in a world dominated by forces beyond their control. As humans began organizing into larger communities, the seeds of independence were sown, setting the stage for a gradual shift in power.

Before written history, early humans relied on oral traditions and rituals to explain the mysteries of life. Shamanic practices and animistic beliefs flourished, attributing spirits to nature and animals. This era saw the creation of ancient rock art and burial sites, hinting at early reverence for the supernatural. Folklore tied to survival and the environment shaped the foundation of myths that would persist for millennia. It is in this Era the majority of the original Daemons fell and flourished, shaping the very foundations of culture that would ripple through time.
The advent of agriculture and the rise of city-states like Uruk and Memphis gave birth to organized religion and structured mythologies. Sumerians told tales of gods like Enki and Inanna, while Egyptians worshipped deities tied to the Nile’s life cycle. The supernatural was deeply ingrained in governance, with rulers often claiming divine favor. This period also saw the construction of ziggurats and pyramids, blending human achievement with spiritual reverence.
