Spanning the medieval period to the dawn of the digital age, this era is marked by exploration, revolution, and transformation. The Mongol Empire connects East and West, the Renaissance revives classical knowledge, and the Reformation reshapes religion in Europe. The Enlightenment champions reason and science, while the Industrial Revolution propels humanity into modernity with electricity, railroads, and factories. Global empires rise and fall, and the 20th century brings two world wars, social revolutions, and leaps in technology. Within this dynamic period, the Council of Witches, Daemons, and Vampyres emerges in the 1500s, gaining dominance by the 1800s to preserve the secrecy of the supernatural world as humanity’s progress challenges its continued existence.
This millennium witnesses the rise and fall of great empires and the establishment of major world religions. The Roman Empire dominates the Mediterranean before transitioning into Byzantium, while Christianity becomes its state religion. Islam emerges in the 7th century, expanding rapidly across the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. Hinduism and Buddhism spread across Asia, and the foundations of modern China are laid under the Qin and Han Dynasties. Meanwhile, supernatural beings face increasing persecution, the beginnings of being driven underground by the growing power of organized religion and empires of humanity. Their presence survives in myths, legends, and secret traditions, passed down through generations.
This period saw the rise of powerful civilizations where supernatural beings still influenced humanity but faced growing resistance. Humans, now organized into city-states and empires, began consolidating power, often tying governance to divine favor while challenging the authority of supernatural forces. Empires in Mesopotamia, Egypt, and beyond achieved monumental advancements in governance, architecture, and culture, blending human ingenuity with lingering supernatural influence.
As structured religions and philosophies like early Judaism and Zoroastrianism emerged, skepticism about the supernatural grew. Humans, emboldened by technological advancements and political unity, began violently asserting their autonomy, discovering that even supernatural beings could be killed. By 1000 BCE, these beings retreated from seats of power, their open presence diminished, leaving myth and hidden traditions in their wake.
In the earliest days of human civilization, the supernatural and mortal worlds were deeply intertwined. Supernatural beings ruled openly as gods, heroes, and creators, shaping the natural and spiritual landscapes of early societies. The first cities, such as those in Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley, rose under the influence of divine favor, and rituals ensured the balance between humans and the unseen. Myths and legends were born in this time, reflecting humanity’s attempts to understand their place in a world dominated by forces beyond their control. As humans began organizing into larger communities, the seeds of independence were sown, setting the stage for a gradual shift in power.
